Susan G. Charles' "The Master of the Hunt" is an intriguing, very well-written story introducing us to a very unusual romance. My only criticism is that it's too short - I want to read more about Elizabeth and Henry!We follow Elizabeth Fox, an accomplished horsewoman and owner of a stable, who, while out riding one morning encounters a hunting party, and is quickly convinced to join it. To say anything more would be to give away the story.
In a very short space, the author does an excellent job of drawing Elizabeth's character, making her a relateable and believable person, who we're quickly interested and invested in. Her world is fascinating, and begs further exploration, which I hope that the author will give us in the future.
I thoroughly enjoyed this, and definitely recommend it!

I have in some way been deeply affected by this piece of writing. It has taken me to a place of air and mist and vague disquieting feelings. It has pulled me into a dream state, a place where my feet don't touch the ground and where there is no solid footing, as if I've inadvertently walked into a painting of the moors or a heavily blanketed, mystical forest and can't get my bearings. It's not a short story. By definition, a short story has a fully developed theme but is significantly shorter and less elaborate than a novel. No, it's definitely not a short story. The words "tone poem" come to mind, but, no, that is for an orchestra. But, still, this is an art piece, a painting with words...Claude Debussy...Impressionist Music...come close to describing the experience here...this writing focuses on suggestion and atmosphere. Very intriguing. And I, as the reader, have been left wandering the moors. An interesting place to visit now and again.
I can't wait to see what happens next. It's a good intro but there must be more! Otherwise, there's just too many questions left unanswered. I saw no links for future parts to this.
It's got a mysterious vibe to it that constantly leaves you wandering. I liked it. Henry and Elizabeth make quite the pair and I wouldn't mind reading more about them in the future. The story ends so that it may be continued if the author so chooses.
... a good one. Fast pace, special strange atmosphere. Lets you forget for a while this dreary time we live in. Of course there are no issues with grammar or wording. What am I to say? If you have time for such otium cum dignitate - buy and read it! (And if you don't - change something in your life or change this world we're living in. To something more or less acceptable.)
If only all stories written today were that good!
This book was ok. It went by extremely fast and the characters were not really fleshed out. I had to reread the last chapter because I thought I had missed something when out of the blue, I reached the end. I hadn't missed anything.
This would be something to read if you only had a little bit of time and wanted to read a paranormal romance.
There is nothing normal about this romance. I am a big fan of Susan G Charles and her paranormal romances. The Master of the Hunt does not disappoint. I really enjoyed the mystery of the romance of Elizabeth and Henry. The story is fast paced, exciting and leaves me wanting more of this romance.
This is a fun read, in fact, my only complaint is, I want more! The Master of the Hunt A Paranormal Fantasy Romance by Susan G. Charles shows the creative and storytelling talents of the author. One misty morning Elizabeth, out on a horse ride alone, runs into a fox hunting club . . . think you know what happens next? Maybe not. Anyone who enjoys paranormal romance will gobble this up. Highly recommended 5- stars.
